THE Force was with Ark Cancer Centre Charity volunteers when they teamed up with members of UK Garrison and Festival Place staff for a special Star Wars event.
Last weekend saw the Return of the Garrison event at the National Space Centre in Leicester, where the UK Garrison are on show for visitors to see and meet.
The force was well and truly with Caterham Carnival on Saturday.
Star Wars characters including Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper [ed. along with other characters from the UK Garrison] were in the impressive parade.
Led by the noise and colour of the Bloco Fogo samba band, the 200-strong procession also included several children's groups dressed as fairy tale characters.
With every year that passes, the worldwide phenomenon that is Star Wars Day grows larger and larger, and as the LEGO brick road to Star Wars: The Force Awakens gets shorter and shorter there's little chance of that slowing down. Once again, Star Wars fans the world over spent the weekend preceeding May 4 celebrating the saga, and here in the UK it was no different. On May 3, my wife Ruth and I journeyed down to the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort for a day with the UK Garrison and the Rebel Legion and watched as crowds of adventure-hungry Star Wars fans streamed into the park.
On Thursday 4th April 2013, the UK Garrison attended one of those extra special and meaningful events that make us all proud to be part of the UKG. We were invited by MediCinema to troop at the Defense Medical Rehabilitation Centre Headley Court for a Star Wars themed day they had organised. We also took this opportunity to present MediCinema with a cheque for £2,500.
A week of Black, White & Blu!
Earlier this year Fox approached the UKG to help them promote the Blu-Ray release of Star Wars. Obviously we jumped at the chance. Back in August we attended the Empire Magazine Event at London's O2 Arena, where along with Mr C3PO himself (Anthony Daniels) we drew attention the upcoming release. We even featured heavily in their magazine. This proved to be a great start to the new relationship between Fox, their PR company and the UK Garrison.
